One of my first graders told me the best joke ever last week:

Collin: Oooh, oooh! My dad me a really funny joke!
Me: Okay, go for it.
Collin: Knock knock
Me: Who's there?
Collin: Banana
Me: Banana who?

Collin: Knock knock
Me: Who's there?
Collin: Banana
Me: Banana who?


Collin: Knock knock
Me: Who's there?
Collin: Banana
Me: Banana who?


Collin: Knock knock
Me: Who's there?
Collin: Apple
Me: Apple who?
Collin: Are you happy I didn't say banana this time?
Me: Collin, when you're dad told you this joke, were there any oranges involved?
Collin: Yes, but I like apples better.

This is why I love first grade--it's the simple things that make life wonderful.
