Pop Parade

One of the fun things they do at our school's Fall Festival is the Pop Parade. Now when I was a kid, it was the Cake Walk--you baked and decorated your own cake and entered it into the decorating contest, then later that night the cakes were given away at the cake walk--but of course, the rules have changed since my day, and now you can't use homemade baked goods. Instead of the Cake Walk, we now have the Pop Parade--instead of decorating a cake, the kids decorate pop cans and pop bottles (sealed of course), enter them into the contest, then they have a Pop Walk later that night at the festival. For first graders, I thought our class's entrees turned out pretty cute:

Brad and his frog prince:

Alisa's fish:

Brooklyn's flag:

Chloe's dog and mom:

Collin's spider and jack-o-lantern:

Complete with fangs!

Marigold's creation:

Marley's bumblebee:

Miles' rocket-ship (complete with flames):

Debbie's princess:

Shreyash's butterfly:

Yup, gotta love first grade. :)
