Fabric Addiction

Admittedly, I am at the fabric store more often than I should be--but there is always something that I've forgotten and desperately need before finishing my next project--or with Summer drawing near, JoAnn's keeps having sale after sale! It's just not fair... I can't stay away! A fabric store or a craft store is my version of a candy store for a child. :) So, on one of my numerous trips recently we were waiting in line to cut some fabric, and because I can't just stand in line and patiently wait, I took and number and started browsing up and down the isles--I had no intention of buying more fabric, but you know those coordinated fat-quarter fabric bundles they keep in the corner? I should avoid those... but I can't, and the colors were just so cute, so I had to buy this adorable polka dot flannel.
But what am I to do with it? Sure, it's cute, but flannel fat quarters really don't do me much good. But wait--I have a NIECE now! Suddenly bright polka flannels are looking very promising in baby accessories. So, with the help of my TinkerMama, I learned how to do machine embroidered appliqués (I love technology), and made a few new burp-cloths for baby Heather:

This one is my personal favorite. :)
But that only took care of 3 of the 5 fat quarters, and my ADD refused to make more burp-cloths, so next I tried a few baby bibs:

Who knew that having a baby niece could be so wonderful?! Baby things are just so much more fun to make than big people things. :P

P.S. My project was featured by the following awesome blogs!

I absolutely love all of your adorable designs. I can't decide which is my favorite. It might be the bib with the yo-yo on it because I am about halfway through making enough yo-yos for a king sized bed coverlet!

So, I was looking at this post and deciding if I should leave a generic "how cute" comment when my four year old daughter walked in the room and started gushing over these bibs. She spent a long time looking at them and exclaiming over each little detail... which made the bibs even cuter to me :-)

"JoAnn's keeps having sale after sale! It's just not fair... I can't stay away!" No kidding! Check out the spoils of my latest trip. http://flexibledreams.blogspot.com/2011/04/nook-or-kindle-case-tutorial.html
