I really didn't know what to do for Father's Day--I just don't believe in doing something "special" one day out of the year, while keeping the other 364 mediocre. Anyhow, I did want to do something, so I made sugar cookies--I don't make those for the family very often, so that makes them extra special. There really aren't words to say what my Dad means to me--like EVERYTHING. He's my superhero.

I can barely believe it, but my little Sean is 12 years old! His birthday was this last Thursday, and what better way to celebrate for the video-gamer than a Mario-themed birthday cake! I have to say, this was by far one of my favorite cakes to make. Happy Birthday Sean!

I'm All Ears

It's no secret that I am a social idiot--Not that I don't have plenty of people who cared about me--but it's nice when you get little reminders that people out there care. Thank you Danny and Brittany, thank you for remembering my birthday, and for being my friends. :)

She Dreamed a Dream

Britain's Got Talent has come to a conclusion: and unfortunately, not in the way I would have hoped, but still it was a memorable night. From Daniel Ng of the Los Angeles Times:

"Susan Boyle proved a gracious loser today when the dance group Diversity won the top prize on "Britain's Got Talent."

"The best people won," said Boyle. "They're very entertaining. Lads, I wish you all the best."

On this evening's finale, the 48-year-old Scotswoman performed her best-known number, "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Miserables," the song that carried her to fame on her first appearance on the show.

It had been a rough week for Boyle leading up to the finals. She had a well-publicized shouting match with a group of journalists and was reportedly considering pulling out of the competition on account of nerves.

But she rebounded and delivered a performance tonight that was warmly welcomed by the audience.

Diversity, a dance group from Essex, comprises three sets of brothers ranging in age from 12 to 25. The 10-member group specializes in street dance but also derives inspiration from all facets of pop culture, from the movie "Transformers" to Michael Jackson.

The members of the group were speechless upon hearing the verdict."

I agree, it was a memorable performance--that song will forever make me cry. Heck, even Simon shed a tear! Gasp! To see a dream fulfilled like that--that is a priceless thing.

Memory

I know that there are some that feel like Susan Boyle isn't as great as the world as made her seem--that it's just a big hype, and it will blow over eventually. Could be true. But you know, I love that woman. She is more than just a singer--she is the embodiment of every dream you have ever had. She is such a humble woman, clueless to half of the fame that's going on around her, just a genuine sweet little lady out there to fulfill her dream--how can you not love her??? She's inspiring. On to Course 3! We are almost there--this is our fourth and final course of the Wilton Cake Decorating classes, then we will totally be pros. This week we once again revisited the joys of fondant--oh how I love fondant! It's like playing with play-dough! I love love LOVE it!

Growing Up

Seems like just yesterday we were silly little freshman...


and then before you know it, we're all getting old, growing up, getting married (well, not ME of course! I've still got many years ahead) and going on to bigger things...

Love Story

So I'm not the biggest Jon Schmidt fan in the world, but his music has its place I suppose. This is kind of cool, plus, what girl doesn't like Taylor Swift's LOVE STORY? Don't we all want our own love story? You know it's true, don't try to hide it.




Speaking of love stories... YOU HAVE TO SEE AUSTRALIA! That is by far my new favorite movie! I am forever in love with The Drover... awwww... if anyone knows of a man like that--a man that could love with such intensity--send him my way, definitely... sigh... such a good movie!It had adventure, romance, history, culture, beauty, Hugh Jackman (oh yeah), my word--it was PERFECT.
