Wacky Watermelon Necklace

Guess what????-------IT'S FINALLY SUMMER!!! Hahaha... okay, technically it's finally Summer, because today is the first day of Summer! AND, it's finally started to warm up and show some sun--I know, because I got my first sunburn of the Summer a few days ago. :( That's what I get for thinking I can garden all afternoon without sunscreen... but then again, up until recently I could get away with that! Oh well... so, in celebration of Summer... a Wacky Watermelon Pink and Green Bib Necklace!

Queen of Hearts

I call this the Queen of Hearts! Even since Disney's animated Alice in Wonderland--and now Tim Burton's version--I have loved the colors and style of the Queen of Hearts. As annoying as she may be, you got to admit that she does have a fabulous sense of style--red, black, and white, just stunning! So, as homage to my favorite colors, here is the latest addition to my Etsy shop:

At least while I'm sick I can try to get a few things done. ;)

Lots and Lots of Features!

Normally I don't like to complain about being sick, but you just have those days where it's too much to deal with--I don't even mind the 2-5 days where you fee like you're going to die, it's the 2-5 weeks following where you're feeling better, but not well enough to do all those wonderful things that you want to do--just completely fatigued and lacking life--as if the sickness just won't let go, even though you're long done with it. It's lame--that's where I'm at right now, and as much as I absolutely hate complaining, it really sucks. :(

So, with that preface... I have not been feeling up to pair, physically or emotionally--but then today something wonderful happened: I checked my email this morning and came across three amazing surprises--I was featured on THREE different blogs today! What a way to turn the week around!

My Couture Zipper Necklaces were featured over at Sugar Bee Crafts!

Desirée over at The 36th Avenue awarded me the "Girl.. You've Got Style!" sticker for my Yo-Yo Headbands and Zipper Rose Headbands!

36th Avenue

My Zipper Rose Headbands were also featured over at The4Rs Ramblings!

and last, but most certainly not least, my ENTIRE BLOG was featured over at A Creative Princess!

Thank you SOOOOOO much Terri--this truly is the greatest honor! A Creative Princess is by far one of my favorite blogs--it's so cute, and Terri is so ridiculously creative! If you've never seen it, PLEASE CHECK IT OUT! It's so worth it--Terri, you are a true gem!

And thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of my blog and shop and creative ventures--thank you so much for helping to pick me up when I'm not feeling quite up to par. :)

What I Wore

I love boots, what can I say... there's just something about wearing a pair of cute cowboy boots that really puts me in the mood for a sunny, summer day (and for once it was sunny!).
Dress: made by me! :) (clearance fabric of course)
Earrings: made by my cousin, Deon Thomas, https://turquoiseroots.com/
Belt: H&M clearance rack, only a few bucks.
Boots: Probably the most expensive of the entire ensemble, my butterfly cowboy boots--however, I can't tell you where or how much they cost, because they were a Christmas present from my lovely TinkerMama. :)

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Pretty in Pink

Not to brag or anything (okay, maybe a little bit), but I must admit that this dress is my favorite so far--it's so much fun to have a little girl to sew for! The only bummer is that she is so far away... but thank goodness for technology, and Heather is coming to visit next month! Anyway, getting a little off track... here is my latest creation for my little niece:

Carolyn said she tried to get a good picture of Heather (not sure what a bad picture would look like, since I don't think she's capable of taking a bad picture), but Heather was far too intrigued by the ruffles on her dress--haha, that's right, my dress came complete with built-in entertainment! :)
So here's one of the back, so you can see all the lovely ruffles--so many ruffles... why are ruffles so cute? They can be such a pain to make... yet I keep on making them, because let's face it, they are just so cute!
Happy baby!!

Can't wait to see you sweet girl! <3

My Cuddly Pit Bull Teddy Bear

The dog has been esteemed and loved by all the people on earth and he has deserved this affection for he renders services that have made him man's best friend.
~Alfred Barbou

Dogs are miracle workers--so extraordinarily amazing! They truly are man's best friend--my little puppy is most certainly my best friend! Recently I visited my Uncle's house and spent some time with his dog, Capone (awesome name, right?). Capone is a pit bull--a pit bull! At first I was surprised that he got a pit bull for his kids, but then I met Capone and fell in love--he is super friendly, ridiculously well behaved, and such a cuddlebug--I stayed the night and when I woke up Capone was cuddled up next to me, snuggled into the covers and everything, he's just like a giant teddy bear.

Who knew that a pit bull could be such a sweetheart?! Well... apparently this isn't anything new: did you know that they used to use pit bulls are nanny dogs?? It's true! They actually have quite the reputation for being a very nurturing, caring creature--it's rather tragic that they've developed such a bad reputation, because really they can be such sweethearts! Check out this interesting article:

Like I said, dog's are pretty dang amazing.

Thanks to Simply Cadence for the article!

What I Wore

Yup, I'm giving in to those "What I Wore" posts--if only to get me out of my sweats (but they're so comfy!) and dressing up every once in a while--I think it's good for people to dress up every now and again, it really does do  something wonderful for the mind.

Funny that a pair of really nice shoes make us feel good in our heads - at the extreme opposite end of our bodies.  ~Levende Waters

However, while I am a strong believer in dressing up and feeling beautiful, I also VERY STRONGLY believe that you shouldn't have to go into debt just to look nice--hence, my favorite shopping includes clearance, sales, hand-me-downs, and making my own clothes.
Boots: Payless end of season clearance sale.
Skirt: Made by me! :)
Jacket: Shopko's clearance wrack
Necklace: Great Grandma Wanda's <3
Hair Flower: 10 for 5$ sale at Claire's
Coat: Shopko's end of season clearance sale
Don't you just love the lilac background??? They are finally blooming!--our yard smells SO GOOOOOOOOD! :)

Couture Zipper Flower Bib Necklaces

What can I say--I'm just in love with zippers right now! You can make the most beautiful and unique things with them--out of zippers! It still kills me that a zipper can do that, but somehow it can. This week we attempted some zipper bib necklaces (both available in my Etsy shop), complete with beads, pearls, and my favorite--Swarovski crystals. :)
